Had a lot of meetings.

Almost wandered into the male prayer room at the Hilton.

Had a facial.

Didn’t buy flowers. Failing.

Got soppy because my bro is going to his first Valentines dance.

Was then horrified at realisation that my bro is almost 13.

Ate a 5 day old cupcake (read cement).

Got even more hopelessly hooked on taking photos.

Took my “Lewis” and Louboutins on a date.

Renamed Mum “Lacoste.”

Started and finished 2 books. Started a 3rd.

Didn’t get sunburnt.

Heard my thesis was published.

Finished Downton Abbey.

Realised how much I had missed this guy.

Embraced my shameless addiction to Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Found out I could sweat behind my ears.

Wore more dresses.

Was more assertive, but still shy.

Continued to cut coffee.

I do not support Fracking. Not one little bit. What a fracking terrible idea. ( Okay, just once. I couldn’t resist.)

Every time I hear about it, I just see shades of Erin Brokovich… and I’m aware it’s not technically the same thing, but we all know how that worked out for those families. And this is what annoys me the most. These global giants can happily orchestrate stark futures for both the untamed landscape and the man on the small-town street on a mere whim.

Who exactly does Shell think they are?

Well unfortunately Shell know exactly who they are. A multi-million dollar company that has realised their bread and butter is starting to get really good at hide and seek and that they need some pretty good ideas on how to outsmart it.

I’m no scientist, but it can’t be a great idea. It’s threatening to wreck our natural beauty, hide the stars and make Shell richer, plus it’s scheduled to happen right in my relative’s backyards. Towns where my Dad grew up and that are still home to many happy and healthy Hobsons.

[No I'm serious if you go to Graaff-Reniet and kick a bush... a Hobson will jump out.]

It’s not on Shell.

Last night I came across the trailer ( hat tip to @obox) for Unearthed. Unearthed is a documentary that seeks to investigate plans of the potential shale gas development and its method of hydraulic fracturing in the Karoo and broader regions. It’s really been beautifully done.

I can’t wait to watch it.

Everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over the new DA Youth posters for their 2012 student campaign.  As per usual, you can see the race cards flying with gay abandon and the ensuing post-apartheid, flame-war that we’re all so used to by now (guys, get some new material) erupting over here.

It’s clear that if the DA Youth’s aim was to get people talking, they’ve definitely succeeded.

The posters are the real, sanctioned, signed off and DASO-approved deal.They’re both dragging up issues that aren’t issues anymore (80′s revival anyone), but other than that I don’t really have a problem with either of them

Why did no one tell me that Patrick Dempsey was in town AND what exactly is he doing sleeping with a girl young enough to be his daughter?

I cannot wait to see this. Now before you get a fright, The Artist is actually a silent movie. So don’t go in, start watching and then ask for your cash back like these people did. I’ll just shake my head quietly; trust the Liverpudlians.

The Artist is being touted as a love-letter to silent cinema and the music sounds incredible. I’ve fallen head over heels for cinematic orchestra recently, so it’s right up my alley. Through music and visuals, the film quietly weaves the story of a silent actor whose career is destroyed by the arrival of  ”the Talkies.”

It’s already picked up 3 Globes and it’s got MAJOR hype ahead of the Oscars. I love the concept, it’s so new… but at the same time it’s so old. If you know what I mean. Have we just discovered Hipster cinema?

A South African actor finally stands up and takes some hardcore initiative! There are several in this series of Home Auditions where Tim tries to catch Hollywood’s attention. Oh my god they are hysterical. I laughed so hard that tea ACTUALLY came out of my nose.
