Lady Gaga Rocks Cape Town

I went to Lady Gaga last night and it was mind-blowing. In fact words can’t do the experience justice. I know we are starved of concerts in South Africa, so perhaps my gauge is a little bit off, but she is without a doubt the best performer I will ever witness. I am so glad that I went.

I booked the tickets not because I was a die-hard fan, not because I was a little Monster, but because I knew I would regret missing a woman who is singlehandedly redefining… well everything. And after seeing her in concert, I want to give it all up and run through the streets, preaching her message, whilst covered in glitter, wearing loud wigs and surrounded by an entourage of gay best friends.

All other concerts will pale in comparison to this.

The Born This Way Ball is a theatrical masterpiece  (it can only be described as Phantom of the Opera on Acid), she gives it her all in her performance and her message is beautiful. Accept others, be kind, have compassion, appreciate yourself, believe that you can kick ass, don’t care what people think and make the world a better place.

I have never seen an artist want to connect with her fans as meaningfully as she does.

And performance, wigs, sequins and outrageous costumes aside, she is an exceptionally talented singer. And she knows exactly who she is and where she came from.

I’ve officially converted. I can’t wait to tell my grandkids that back in the day their Granny was rocking out to Gaga!

” South Africa, this is not a fucking funeral. This is a party!” – Lady Gaga
