So. You only get one life. Probably a good idea to live it right? Do those things that make you feel alive. Except bungee jumping. That one I’ll skip.
But it’s that theory and thanks to a fabulous friend that I ended up on stage, rocking with THE coolest of 90′s cool.
Vanilla Ice.
Me.
The girl who’s so Un-Rap it’s ridiculous. The girl who didn’t have a clue who Vanilla Ice was and who had only come along because she was pretty sure she’d have an amazing time with her friends.
The girl who actually stood there. Amongst the vests, rapper caps and gold chains asking herself
Robs… what exactly are you doing here?
And then suddenly I was on his shoulders.
Loving it.
But still girl enough to
1. Worry if I was too heavy for him to carry
2. Wonder how I’d get down without falling. A very rational fear when you’re part of the focal point of several 100 people.
And we’re best mates now
It was our matching white watches that sealed the deal.
I think I’m still high on the adrenaline rush.
And no. Not because I was on his shoulders. Not because he’s famous. Not because I’ve gotten crazy mileage out of it and have used lines (please don’t take them seriously) like:
Please. I’ve been on Vanilla Ice’s shoulder. I can tap anything I want.
I AM Ice, Ice Baby.
Not because l can officially tell my grandkids ”Your Nana was so cool. She was ice cold.”
But because I was on stage.
And the crowd was insane.
And I remembered what I love. What makes my heart tick a bit faster.
I danced. I jammed. I even gave him a high-five. And when I tweeted this happy news whilst on stage ( … yes don’t you worry.. I’m aware that I’m just dripping in cool right now) I was so happy I was shaking.
Crazy.
I got off the stage and someone told me I’d missed my calling as a Rockstar. Robs ‘the closet Rockstar’ Hobson.
Sigh. Now if only I could sing.
Well I wanted to remember this moment forever. Who wouldn’t?
So after a bit of investigation ( I’m sleuth like that) I was told to chat to the people at BAD pictures….who take good pictures in my opinion.
First of all, what awesome, friendly, helpful people and secondly they snapped the entire Back 2 Kool gig. So you can visit the 90′s with them.
Because let’s face it. As decades go, the 90′s was pretty cool.
So live life. Let’s do the mad things. They’re worth it. And no regrets.
But don’t forget
