Our proudly South African, Bafana Bafana World Cup squad was announced on 01 June 2010. Admittedly and rather shockingly I know very little about our Soccer Stars.
Don’t panic if you’re also a few players short of a full Bafana, you’ve come to the right place.
Katlego MphelaBorn 28th November 1984 in the North West this current Mamelodi Sundowns striker is all set to put the ball in the back of the net for Bafana.
Mphela made his international debut as part of the Maurituis squad in February 2005. He has represented South Africa 30 times and scored 14 goals.
He was leagues top goal scorer in the 2009-2010 season.
Bernard ParkerBorn 16th March 1986, in Boksburg. Parker grew up in a township where he excelled at sport. He is now kept on his toes in the FC Twente team in the Nederlands.
He made his debut in the professional ranks with Benoni Premier United.
Super Soccer Moment: In the 09 Confederations Cup he scored both goals to take Bafana to a 2–0 win over New Zealand.
Siyabonga NomveteBorn 2nd December, 1977 in the township of KwaMashu, close to Durban. Nomvete was part of the 2002 Bafana Bafana World Cup squad.
He currently plays for Moroka Swallows and has played in the Italian Serie A during his career.
He has scored 16 goals for us so far.
Keep scoring !
