Support Local Music: 30 From Ace

This band rocks . . . and they sound really good. I was fortunate enough to hang out with 30 From Ace for two days whilst they were filming their first music video : Inside Again.

The dream to rock the world started in 2002 … and by 2008 the guys had found one another and officially started their quest to become one of the greatest South African bands.

Javan Mattei (Bass)
Len Ritchie (Guitar)
Philip Stallkamp (Drums)

They’re opening for Jack Parow on the 5th June and recording the rest of their album later in the same month.

They’re going places. So in the interests of maintaining your cool status, give their music a listen and then you can proudly say you knew them before the rest of the world did.

We shot in a recycling depot which in my opinion is one of the best locations. It was here that I met them … and then subsequently watched several of them fall straight through the stacked bales of recycled paper. Supportive family, girlfriends and friends all showed up to lend a smile, dish up a piece of cake or snap some photos.

The second day of shooting saw us ambitiously take on several locations and even though we started quite late, we got it all because that how the real pros roll Chasing birds in the company gardens, sipping tea and eating cookies at the quaintly, cool Bread Cafe and finally admiring the graffiti in Woodstock.

They are fluent in sarcasm, good times and awesome music so it was an abolsute dream being their leading lady.  Even when I was scared in one of the drug alleys, Vinnie made it better by assuring me we would be ok because he could scream very loudly . In fact they were so great that I could even gloss over the fact that Daniel had said that the music video would fail epically and that it would be all my fault

Thanks guys, you’ve given me way more laugh lines and made me want to start a band.
